Is a 20-Yard Dumpster the Right Size?

- A single-layer roof tear-off on a ranch
- A garage plus a basement in one go
- Flooring through most of a house
A 20-yard is wrong for
- A full-house cleanout with the furniture in it. That is 30-yard work
- A demolition job. Take the 30, and maybe two of them
- A driveway under 20 feet of clear run. Take the Space Saver, same capacity on a shorter footprint
The 30-Squares Rule
For roofs, the 20 carries a single-layer tear-off up to about 30 squares. Past 30 squares, or any double-layer roof, the weight gets there before the room does and the 30 is the cheaper path. For everything else, think in pickup loads. The 20 swallows about seven. That is a full garage, or the first phase of a renovation.

Three tons covers most remodel and cleanout loads at this size. Roofing is the one that surprises people. Shingles run about 250 pounds a square. A 30-square tear-off is close to 4 tons before the felt and flashing. If the job is a roof, tell us the square count when you call.

How much does a 20-yard dumpster cost in the Upstate?

What is the difference between the 20-yard and the 20-yard Space Saver?
Capacity is the same: 3 tons, 20 yards. The Space Saver is four feet shorter with taller walls, so it fits driveways the standard 20 will not. If space is tight at your address, that is the one.
Is a 20-yard dumpster big enough for a roof tear-off?
For a single-layer roof on a typical ranch, yes. For a two-layer roof or anything past about 30 squares, the weight gets ahead of the included 3 tons. Tell us the square count and layers when you call and we will give you the straight answer for your roof.
